After a particularly harsh Winter the Summer of 2014 seems to have gone even faster than normal. Here’s a quick recap of our FAT summer.
Amidst the hoopla JB was at the People for Bikes booth helping get e-mails for the cycling cause. If you want your voice included when People for Bikes talk to law makers, add it here! It only takes a second.
Is that wedding bells we hear??
A sure sign of summer is the start of the Wednesday at Wakefield race series hosted by Potomac Velo . Going strong for over 15 years this local series attracts talent from all over the Mid-Atlantic. Gripped Racing had podiums each of the 4 weeks of racing.
After lawn darting off a drop at Fountain Head, JB broke his shoulder and had time to do some video editing. The is here:
After returning from the Tour JB had plenty of great stuff to raffle off for our team fundraiser . All our sponsors donated fantastic gear and prizes helping GR to raise over $3,000!
The money went to AutismSpeaks.org through Bike 2 The Beach , a fundraiser introduced to our team by our new sponsor Lindsay Volkswagen . We had a fantastic day of biking to the beach and plan to make it a team event next year.
With our fundraising goals met, 5 from GR pedaled from Arlington to Dewey Beach, Delaware in one of the best group rides ever. We highly recommend you join us next year!
Lindsay Volkswagen of Sterling let us shoot our team photo on their front step – thanks also to Jay Westcott for snapping such a fantastic image!
For most of us things slowed down a bit in August, but Jason Harris found his form and began snatching up podiums at the local Mountain Bike races.
Just as he was peaking, Harris took a nasty fall and broke his collar bone. So far he’s had one surgery and we hope that’s it.
Matt Lee was busy putting in long miles at the Assault on Mount Mitchell read his words in this separate post . He then took on the Shenandoah Mountin 100 and found it … well you can read about that in a few days.
Worth another mention is our awesome new sponsor Lindsay VW. Everywhere we go the new team wagon attracts attention.
It’s been a fantastic summer and while we hate to see it go we embrace Fall and all the riding/racing we plan to pack in before another Winter. Look for us at the following events:
September 27th Team Cleanup of Military Road (Adopt a Highway Program)
Mabra Cross Series http://www.super8cx.org/
