Mat lines up for his first road crit

History
Getting his debut in road cycling in 2012 on the family’s 80’s steel frame, Mat quickly upgraded to his first road bike, a Cannondale R1000 CAAD7 where 30-50 mile rides and workday commutes became the new routine. In 2013 while living in San Francisco, Mat completed his first Century Ride, National MS Society’s Waves to Wine 2013. After relocating to the DC area, Mat joined Gripped Racing in 2015 to develop his skills and find others with the same passion! He recently discovered the thrills of mountain biking in 2016, having ridden in the DC area, North Carolina, and Utah.

2016 Goals
Compete in local races
Complete a second Century Ride (100 miles)
Advance in local group ride categories
Explore East Coast MTB trails
Keep up with Jason Berry

Why
With road cycling, there’s nothing like riding in a group where skill, camaraderie, and sheer power drive you to go farther and faster. The feeling of flying through 20,30, 60 miles of beautiful landscapes and the sense of accomplishment is like crack! With mountain biking, the challenging terrain adds a whole other element and is a completely new way for me to be on a bike!
